I cut the cords and sacs on Chloe's litter, for safety reasons, not because she wouldn't. I didn't want to take any chances. Whelping pups is not for the faint of heart. Did you count the afterbirths? If not, or if there weren't the same number, be sure to get her a shot of oxytocin. You surely don't want any retained placentas.

Yes all the placentas came out..Pretty sure of that.
but my vet is closed is it reAlly important to get the shot of oxytocin right away.. she pants alot still ..is this a bad sigh??? DO I NEED TO GET HER TO THE VET NOW
