My mom pierced my ears when I was 12 using ice cubes a needle and a potato. Then at 19 I went to a jewelry store with my boyfriend to get a second set and while there we jokingly sat down and picked out an engagement ring which he purchased later and gave to me (we got married 6 months later and are still married-27 yrs in June). Anyway...at about 35 I got my naval pierced. Thats it (oh, and a couple tatoos but I guess thats another thread).
My daughters each have two holes in each ear lobe and one cartilage piercing and their navals. One also pierced her tongue at 17 which she managed to keep hidden for about two weeks. As much as I wasn't happy about it, I figured that at least when she tired of it she could just remove it and it will grow shut quickly. She's almost 20 and it's still there! I'm glad that neither of them have pierced anything on their faces.
