I am from California and I love it here. I know it must sound crazy to most of you but I dont mind the earthquakes at all. I've lived in the San Fran Bay Area for 31 years and only experienced 2 earthqakes over 6 on the ricter scale (sp). Luckily both times no one I knew was hurt and my home wasnt damaged.

Earthquakes come on as a surprise, as soon as your relized your shaking its over so its not that bad. They only last a few seconds and you go back to what you were doing. I know a lot of bad things can come of them, mudslides, injury etc. but thats not too common. We have small earthquakes a few times a year and I am not even phased by them.

I would take an earthquake over a huricane anyday. With huricanes, tornados and the other natural disasters around the US you have days or even weeks to worry yourself about them and they can be quiet devistating once they hit. With earthquakes we never think about them till we start shaking, its over in seconds and thats it. They cause little to no damage most of the time, it seems like only once every 10 years or so there is a significant one that does cause damage. The odds aren't that bad
