I agree, I think you should definitely discuss these issues. They are not minor problems.
With the rescue, I would feel bad for asking for financial help even though they had to have known. They probably had the best interest of the animal in mind, even though it is unorthodox.
But if your other Yorkie needs surgery because of her kneecaps, I think you should discuss the costs with the breeder. Did the breeder give you a health guarantee for your second Yorkie?
