My Maltese is much more hyper than either of my Yorkies too! And he is a barker SUPREME where my Yorkies don't bark much at all. I really do think it depends on the dog but I don't think I would get another Maltese again. They are beautiful dogs for sure but I like the temperment of my Yorkies better.
