I think the reason why is that nowadays many people are more aware of what is in the food they are feeding themselves and their pets. I feel the internet and such things help educate and with some of the pet food companies starting to make better products people are doing more research when it comes to making their choice.
Sometimes people have the mind set if it works for years and their dogs likes to eat it, it is fine. I have a hard time understanding that, but I have also spend many many hours to research the pet foods and ingredients.
I think some of the pet foods are like McDonalds. Yes, your dog will eat it and like it. But eating all that bad stuff cannot be too good for their overall health. I think some people think that if their dog does not fall down dead after eating it it must be just fine.
Feeding the better quality pet food costs around the same as feeding the cheaper filler foods as you feed less even though they cost more. Just my 2 cents.
