An inguinal hernia is in the groin as opposed to the umbilical (belly button) one.. It usually is NOT necessary to put a youngpuppy thru the stress of anesthesia to repair them at a YOUNG age. It can wait til altering and dentals are done at 6 months or so. No point is exposing your baby to anes more than is absolutely necessary. I do the same thing Pat does...just make sure your vet checks it every visit..
