I vacuum or swiffer up the dust and crumbs first, then I use teh regular swiffer mop, but instead of using swiffer brand clothes, I use those thin microfiber cleaning-clothes (you can get them anywhere....the fibers remind me of teeny tiny terry clothe...if that makes sense). I run the cothe under hot water and squeeze it out, attach to the swiffer and wet mop....works very well, except that Tia needs to be crated...she always wants to "kill" the swiffer! No chemicals! No soap! These clothes are also excellent for cleaning glass (use one wet, and follow with a dry one) and stainless steel appliances. I rarely use soaps or chemicals...but we also have a steam cleaner for dissinfecting (no we aren't germ-a-phobes....we've just learned a healthier way to clean!) I'm a fan of Martha Stewart and she wrote something that kinda stuck with me....a clean house shouldn't smell like anything...not like bleach, or vinegar, or chemicals. There shouldn't be any odour except for fresh flowers (if you have them) or a home cooked meal (if you have the time!)
