Each bitch has a different cycle. Some can ovulate up to their 16th day. The best method to determine your girl's cycle is once her color has begun to fade to light pink, is take her to the vet on a daily basis to determine her best time. You can do the determination by yourself, when holding her for the male and seeing if she will stand for him. Don't let nature take it's course. Hold your female and your male, if it's the 1st time will require some guidance and assistance.
I'm sure you've had them tested for STDs' and genetic defects.
