With the right help you should be able to recover most of the pictures and files from your computer. Is your computer still under warranty? Check that first. If not, see if you can get an IT guy from from your office, hubby's office, son, daughter, friend, etc. Most of them would come to your house for cash and would be much cheaper than going through a service like "Geek Squad".
