Aggression to new pup Our Gracie went into a deep, dark depression when we got our Maltese, Sampson. She was throwing up, diarrhea and was moping around the house. We were so upset and wondered if we did the right thing. About a week later, she got used to him and mothered him for a week. Then, she started acting like a normal dog. Now, they fight, chase, bark, run circles around the hose and it seems like they are trying to kill eachother. I asked Gracie's military school teacher about their behavior and she said they were just doing what dogs do. Trying to establish who the alpha dog is - at this point we still don't know... and playing and as long as we did not see blood to let them work it out. I admit that I have pulled them apart a few times and given them a rest. We have had Sampson for about two months now and they still fight and certainly fight over chew toys, balls, chews... but just when I think they hate eachother, I find them curled up next to eachother taking a nap. Hang in there! Linda |
