It is quite different for a pet owner and a breeder..I never used to give them..(over 25 yrs rabies shot free)..but the chances of my breeding dogs getting rabies was zero...they are not around any wildlife or strange dogs..(can not get it from squirrels)
With pets it is a good idea since they go lots of places and might nip someone..if they do then you have a tag and they will not confiscate them until proven rabies free..since rabies is 100% fatal to humans, AC is quite strict if a dog bites someone.
I have given my girls here in Florida rabies, but there is still no chance of them getting it...
