What you heard about the connection between pregnancy and cancer is not true. Best way to avoid cancer is to spay before first heat. Unlike humans, our dogs do not feel any "need" to be mothers, and there are a lot of homeless dogs as it is.
I think your vet is giving you very good advice. Pregnancies can be dangerous for Yorkies, especially for the smaller ones.
Sorry, but I'm with the vet on this one.
But, by all means, go ahead and consult another vet if you like. I doubt you would get a different answer.
