I do walk him with his sweater on, this one has a small hole towards the mid back that is meant for putting your harnesses D ring through. A lot of the clothes from Casual Canine have this on them so I just stick the harness on first and then put the sweater over it and pull the d-ring through that loop. On his clothes that don't have that hole on them for the harness I either have my seamstress put D-rings on them so I can just clip his leash to his shirt or I have her make a small hole, just like the Casual Canine ones have so I can put the harness underneath the shirt. I like the D rings on the clothes for the ease and conveinence of just clipping the leash on and going but always feel more safe when the harness is on them. I've had one D ring bust on me before and it was scary!
So, if I'm walking on a side walk or anywhere near traffic, I make sure he has his harness on, if we're just around the neighboorhood or at a park I'll go with just the D-rings becaues if they do break their isn't anything near by that can hit him and he'll come to me when I call him.
