Default Potty Training

Gracie is 4 months old and not doing well with potty training. Well let's put this another way, I am not doing well with potty training.

When she came home at 8 weeks she was put in the kitchen with potty pads, crated when I left the house, and of course, slept with me at nighttime. When she first came home, she was very good about potty pads. As time went on, she was not happy being left by herself in the kitchen or in her crate. She chewed the plastic on the baby gate and made a nice hole for herself, and chewed threw her crate (it's a nylon crate with netting---adorable little thing in pink). I then put a board across the kitchen doorway to keep her in and she jumps the board and still gets out! Needless to stay, I have not been a very good Mom. She now has the run of the house and is not doing well with potty pads. My kitchen does not have a back door she must come through the dining room and living room to go outside. I don't really have a yard so I walk her on a leash. I have potty pads under my dining room table and one in the master bedroom and another bedroom. She was pretty good for a while but in the past week, she is totally disregarding the potty pads only while I am in the house.

I am planning on putting in a slider and a side yard for her but until then what are your suggestions for daytime.

Another obstacle....my Mom is 82 and lives with me. She suffers from dementia and I have a person that comes in the day to come for my Mom. When I gate Gracie in the kitchen, it is a real inconvenience!

Your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I love my little Gracie and want her to be potty trained so I can take her to visit family.

I know I have not done her or myself any justice by giving her the run of the house.
