It is best when you are starting out to get a bit of help from a handler. My first handlers and my all time favorite is Tim Reese and Randy Winters. Many many years ago they showed and finished my first Shih Tzu. I learned so much from them. I still to this day will use a handler from time to time depending on the dog and the show, but it is expensive and most of the time you do have to send your dog away. So go to the shows and watch as I did many years ago , to see how they treat the dogs in their care. Ask different handlers what they think about your dog and if it is show quality. Because all yorkies are cute and very beautiful in the eyes of their owners, but may not cut the mustard in the show ring.
It is a hard ring to get into, a lot more dogs than there are points given. But when you get a great dog and you win there is no better feeling.......

I just put two back to back majors on my new puppy dog and two Best of Breeds, it feels good!!!!!

I wish you success.
