Rose Good advice from ASPCA Poison Control

Max is fine, but yesterday he swallowed one of my hormone replacement pills (progesterone and estrogen for symptoms of menopause). I called the vet and he said not to worry, they're not harmful, he's probably not going to grow breasts, or want to wear pink bows suddenly, but to call Poison Control because he's so small.

The ASPCA Poison Control doctor said that he'd be fine, just to look for an upset stomach ($55 later). She told me 2 important facts:

1. If a dog throws up, their natural tendency is to drink and possibly eat right away. Don 't let them for at least an hour because that can start a vicious cycle of vomiting.

2. Either put your medicine in a bowl or go into another room and close the door so that if it falls on the floor, your animal can't get it. That's how Max got mine.
