What is his pedigree. Has he been tested for genetic health issues?.....Eye exam, OFA's, hearing tested, bile acid tested, and for STDs. As you said you're just toying with the idea of breeding, read and study everything you can on breeding. There are alot of books, websites, etc a wealth of info out there.
