I vaguely remember reading some time ago about something you can put in their water to prevent plaque build-up but don't remember what it was. We use the apple cider vinegar but that's more for "breath" than for teeth. Let us know what you find out.
And by the way, milomlo..... I think I've seen those chews at my vet's office too. I might look into what those are made of and try them.
