Lily does both too. My husband wants to get rid of the pads, but it is convenient when it rains, etc. She tends to go outside more often, but seems to leave the poop for the pads. She also mistakes throw rugs for pads sometimes too which is annoying. She basically does both pads and grass and I always thought that it was a little strange, but it's whatever...
