I think the suggestion to consult a trainer is a very good one.

In the meantime, I would make your 7-year-old into a "walking treat dispenser". Give her some small dog treats to keep in her pocket. Tell her to toss him one occasionally as long as he is behaving. When he has a toy or something else that he might be inclined to guard from her would be a good time. Have her start from quite far away (tossing the treat from across the room if need be) and let her very gradually get closer to him to give him the treat. If Jake growls, she's going too fast. She needs to back up and advance more slowly.

But, do consult a trainer. I'm betting this can be worked out with some guidance.
