I have no experience with LP, so take my advice with a grain of salt and talk to your vet. But I googled it, and it seems like your description could be LP. At the onset, it is described as a hopping or skipping by the dog. I just googled the below site, but it looks good. You might check it out.

Hopefully, that's not it, but don't panic either way. I have an 11-year-old who had his cranial cruciate repaired surgically, and you wouldn't know he had ever been injured.
