First of all congratulations on your new addition. New family members are GREAT no matter their age when they join you.
In my humble opinion, you can/should rename her to whatever you want her name to be. Truely, I think the animal responds to the love in your tone when you say the name as much as the name itself. (I think this is my my Maggie will respond equally well to Maggie, Maggie Anne, Pumpkin', and Chief Yorkie Bitch of All the World! She hears the love and knows that I'm talking to/about her).

We had a cat once named Bridget by my father. (Don't ask...he thought the cat "looked Irish".) Well, ol' Bridget was a male cat. When, several years later, my parents moved to an apartment, and had to find a new home for him, he went to live with my aunt and uncle. Their boys renamed him Thaddeus. He knew that was his name...had no problem learning it. Yet, whenever, we went to visit and called him Bridget, he remembered to respond to that too.

Name your baby what you want!
