We started locking Jack in the kitchen this week because he's been regressing in his potty training habits. I've received some great advice on another thread about that:

When we returned home from lunch today, we discovered he'd somehow gotten past this 2-foot baby gate! The only possible escape -- and we later confirmed by putting him back in -- was to hop over this stack of papers between the refrigerator and the cabinet, take a sharp 90-degree turn and scoot out behind the refrigator! In a million years, I wouldn't have thought it possible, because once he committed himself, there wasn't enough room to turn around. Thank God he didn't get stuck while we were gone.
