I'd say if it's a situation where you can see the parents and play with the pup and talk to the owners, and it's only $500, sounds like you can't go wrong, if the pup appeals to you!

Since this is the first breeding, there is the disadvantage of not having previous litters as a reference for how your pup might turn out. If the size is really important to you, you could ask what they know about the sizes further UP the line, since of course litters (like human children!) can always throw back to past generations.

Otherwise, yeah, given the weights of the mom and the dad, it's most likely that the pup will at least turn out to be smaller than your previous dog.

On the chocolate issue....I'm personally not partial to that color....but again....if the pup appeals to YOU....that's all that matters!
