I think I would start with getting him used to the carrier.

Put some nice treats in,

put the yorkie in and try going for car rides with him on the floor of the car.

You really need to help the dog reach a comfort level with his carrier.

The dog will be fine on the flight. So what if he barks? It won't last all the way. There will probably be a baby crying louder than your dog.

I traveled 5 times to Europe with my yorkie. She was super great!

Our vet did not recomend sedatives. He said it is harder for them to figure out what is going on when they are 'high.' LOL.

Check with your vet on when you should cut off food or water. This will depend on the time of day you will begin your air travel.

I am a flight attendant, and we have passengers going around the world with pets on board in carriers. They do really fine. I think it is just us parents who worry more about the experience.

Most of the dogs sleep the whole way!
