I agree, it is a personality issue, not a breed-specific issue. Our little Yorkie boy Shadow loves to be snuggled on my lap, but he has his hyper moments when he is just too busy stirring up trouble to sit. Kitara loves to be in a lap, or in our arms. She will follow us around the house begging to be picked up and held. Suki is more independent and doesn't ask to be picked up, but she is more than willing to steal my pillow at night.
There are lap dogs and there are Dog Laps. Some of us are lucky enough to fall into that category. Are you a Dog Lap? do you find yourself hesitating to answer the phone or get up for something because you would be waking up three or four (or more!) of your snuggling fur children? Do your dogs pace the floor restlessly, waiting for you to sit down and be their Dog Lap? ah, the wonderful blessing of being loved by our dogs.
