I came to look on here as i'm facing the same situation so was about to post a similar question.
Only my little one is even older, she's almost 12.

These last six years are the only time in my life I've had just one dog & I'm getting broody for a puppy, but am concerned how she'll accept one now.
When she first came as a puppy, I had six other dogs, all much bigger than her, but she wasn't averse to picking a fight with them ! Luckily they were placid & ignored her antics.
Now that she's older she's mellowed & is friends with 3 other dogs that visit, one a yorkie.
My husband has offered to get me a puppy & I'd dearly love one, but am nervous of how it would turn out.
