Canidae Issue My 6 month old yokie girl, Manya, used to be the best eater in the world up until now. I used to feed her three times a day with Nutro Lambe and Rice dry food and she would consume her portion in no time.
However, I noticed that recently she became less excited about food. Thinking that it might be too hard for her to chew because she is teething, I dampened her dry food with a little water. Initially, she became super excited with this little change. Unfortunately, her excitement has not lasted long. Seeing this change in her behavior, coupled with unexpected dryness in her skin and dandruff like flakes in her hair, I started thinking about switching foods.
I was approaching the end of my Nutro bag when the Whole Dog report of best foods came out. When Nutro was not there, I was firm about deffinitely switching.
I narrowed the recommended foods to Innova and Canidae, and finally picked Canidae after learning that almost everybody on this forum is so happy with it, especially with the skin and hair condition of their dogs. I was also happy learning that the taste of Canidae was prefered over Innova.
Anyway, to make the long story short, I've started the change gradually but my dog has not become any more excited about Canidae. Moreover, I think that she much prefers her old Nutro to Canidae. I literally have to hand feed her in order for her to eat. I also think that the small and round shape of Canidae kibble makes it hard for her to bite on.
I don't know what to do. Is her behavior normal? Why has she changed from being a happy eater to being a "problem baby", LOL ? Have you, guys, especially those with Canidae experience, encountered anything like that? |
