I hate to bring an older thread up like this. I have been giving Summerlin about a tablespoon of cow's milk mixed with her science diet chicken and rice canned puppy food. This is what she has been eating for the past week. I started adding the milk because she seemed to be having a hard time going poop, so I thought adding some liquid to her food would help that. This morning, she had two soft poops - the norm for her - and one small poop that was softer than usual, and had some clear mucus with flecks of blood in it. The blood wasn't in the poop itself, it was in the mucus with the poop. My question is this: Is the mucus and blood because of the milk in her food? When I got this girl, she was in pretty bad shape, the owner had given Summerlin to her stepdaughter at 6 weeks, went to visit her step daughter weekend before last and realized that the baby wasn't being cared for properly. So for three weeks she was with a less than stellar caretaker. I knew that she had some problems, but I thought it would be mostly emotional and visual - you know, fleas, matted hair, etc. Does anyone have any idea what to do about the mucus with flecks of blood? Thanks...
