How many times have you brought your fur-babies to the vet thinking it was something only to find it was nothing?
Here are the times I have:
1. We had had Wes for less than a week when we noticed that he had something hard coming out of his back end. My boyfriend tried to pull it out, but it wouldn't budge. We thought he had something he was trying to pass that got stuck. It was about 10 pm at the time so our regular vet was closed. We rushed him to a 24 hour emergency vet. The vet took one look, took out the hair clippers, and shaved it off. It turns out it was just dried poop. Then he charged us $125.
2. Maddie had been doing a scary gasping honking thing at night that would wake us up in a panic. I thought she might have pnemonia. The vet looked her over and declared her healthy.
3. We took Maddie back to the vet for her honking because I didn't believe their last diagnosis. They took x-rays. They said that she has a flap of skin that flaps around and the honking is to get it back in place.
4. Just last week...I got home from work at 5pm. Wesley threw up once. Then again. And again. He threw up 9 times in 2 hours. He started throwing up white foam b/c he had no food left in him. After the 9th time, I said, "if he throws up one more time, we're taking him to emergency." He did. Since it was after hours, we had to go to a 24 hour place again. Of course, when we got there, Wes showed no signs of being sick. The vet listened to his heart, weighed him, and took his temperature. Then charged us $65. He had no symptoms after that.
I don't mean to say that I regret taking Wes and Maddie to the vet any of these times. Even though the visits have cost me money, I think they were worth it for my peace of mind. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to my babies. I just feel that since they are so little, their health can deteriorate so fast, so to me it's better to be safe than sorry.
Has anyone else had any experiences like this?

(Or maybe it's only me and I'm just too paranoid

)
