I posted in the "My Yorkie" section-we're getting a new puppy Saturday!
Her name is Milli, and she's 11 weeks old. My question is how to introduce the new puppy to Emma (10 months)?
We're going to get her early in the morning, and Emma will go to doggie daycare since we have to drive about 40 minutes out of town, and she's not the greatest in the car. We'll bring Milli home, and she has a vet appointment at 11:30-I wanted to get her checked out before introducing her to Emma, just in case she has any germs that we might not want them to share
Everyone I've talked to at work has said that we need to introduce them in a "neutral" place-but we're supposed to get a huge snowstorm this week, so I'm sure it will be cold and wet out still by Saturday. We are actually moving into a new house Friday, we were thinking that the house would still be neutral territory for Emma, and that she might just think the puppy's been there the whole time if she just shows up Saturday morning.
Emma loves other dogs, and plays with a 2 lb. chihuahua at daycare, who is a girl, and they're BEST FRIENDS while they are there-so I'm sure she'll be gentle enough with the new puppy. I'm wondering if she'll be upset when she realizes the puppy is staying to live with us, and not going home?
Anyone have any ideas on where/how to introduce them?
Anyone have any tips on what NOT to do?
