Default Untie-able?

I have a little female who was given to me by my mentor because she said her male couldn't tie with her. The girl is also a bit hyper, especially if she hasn't had any attention for a while.

About a month ago she was in heat and I put the chosen male in with her. I never saw them tie, no one did. We are a family of 5, so if she had tyed someone surely would have seen it. I was told that she could get pregnant without actually tying. After her heat had passed her behaviour changed. I assumed she was pregnant. Now, when she should be a month pregnant I cannot feel any puppies in her tummy. Her tummy does seem a little more swollen than it was before her heat.

Someone recently told me that false pregnancies were a bad sign. I would like to know if this is true? I have never run across a false pregnancy.

What I am proposing to do with this little girl is to give her time, to see for sure if she will have a puppy or two. If not, I will take her to the vet and have her throughly checked out. If he can find nothing wrong, I will do AI (by the vet) and see what happens then.

Does this sound like a plan? Sylvia
