Here is what I do. I put the grooming band in make it tighter. Then use bows with french barrettes on them. Slip the barrette between the band and the head.
This should make it harder for them to come out. When it is time to remove the band, snip the band rather than pull it out to avoid pulling on the hair. Becareful not to grab any hair when you snip.

thats exactly how I put the bands and bows in maggies hair and started doing it that way and their harder for them to take others bows out. I put the band in then I run the barrette little flat side in the middle or close to the middle of her hair under the band. that way it has the band around all the hair and the clasp in thru the hair under the band. So I agree with you and it does work. When I still had both of them, they stopped removing the bows as bad altho once in a while they would still get one out, but very few times so then they stay in their hair pretty much till I remove them.
