If they eat a little by accident, I wouldn't worry. I had to calm a friend down once whose dog licked the inside of an empty chocolate pudding cup container, he thought it was going to kill his dog. When my Weimaraner was a puppy, me and my husband had gone out, somehow the puppy was able to grab a whole tray of Costco's double chocolate giant muffins, I don't know if you're familiar with them, but they are huge and there was a dozen of them, when we got home, the puppy had managed to eat eleven out of the twelve, he was just laying there with the last one next to him, so full he couldn't move. Well, I went into a total panick, I thought with all I had heard about chocolate being so toxic, my puppy was a goner for sure. I called my vet and he said although it would probably make him really sick to his stomach, it wouldn't kill him and if I was really worried to just bring him in and they would pump his stomach, otherwise, just to keep an eye on him and if I notice him starting to get sick, rush him in right away. I didn't want to put him through the whole stomach pumping thing unless I had to. Anyway, the dog didn't even get an upset stomach, he was fine, really full, but fine. I'm sure he was just really really lucky, but this whole situation helps me not to panick if somehow they get into a tiny bit of chocolate
