I think my cat
tried to like Brutus and even licked him a few times but lately I think he realizes the dog isn't going anywhere so now he hates him! Brutus is dying to play with him but I don't think the cat appreciates being jumped on licked and nipped. He hisses at Brutus once in a while and it scares him enough that he cries and backs off. But not long enough.
I never let them be in the same room alone since I don't trust the cat. The other day he was sitting on an end table stalking Brutus and his rear started wiggling (those with cats know what I mean) ready to pounce but I caught him in time. Plus the cat is 18 lbs. and Brutus is a little over 4 so there's a huge size difference!
I was hoping they'd become friends but I don't know about that anymore.
