Hmmm...it is a chance you take I think? My Maltese was found on the internet, but I did research and the breeder was referred to me and I did feel comfortable. I found she didn't communicate with me much and I hardly got any pictures of her as she got older. But the puppy came beautiful and fine when I got her.
My first Yorkie I found on puppyfind but I searched for someone in my area and drove only 2 hours to get her. I felt really guilty about having my first baby shipped and opted not to go that route again. I found that if I was patient, I could find a puppy close enough to me that I could go see her for myself and also avoid shipping.
So not sure if I helped or not, but I believe there is a bit of a risk that you take when you can't go "see" for yourself beforehand. But some may be very honest with very healthy babies too! Preference my dear. Go with your gut...
