I have friends with two cockers and until they were about a year old they both peed anytime anyone walked in the door. They were just so excited. So, the guests were just told not to look at them or pet them or anything until after a couple of minutes... and my friends did this also. Eventually the pups figured out the door didn't mean instant attention for them and they stopped getting so excited. Once in a while one of them will still do it. (they switched to hardwood floors so it was easier to clean than the carpet)
