On those very hot, dog days of summer, try one of these cool treats taken from the Doggie Biscuit Book by Moneca Litton. Here are two flavours but you can make up your own, too.

Vegetarian Ingredients
Unsweetened apple juice
Water
-or-

Meat Flavour Ingredients
Unsalted meat broth
Stalk of celery, chopped
Water
Method
To make ice lollies for your dog, do the following:-

Dilute unsweetened apple juice with an equal amount of water.
Pour into an ice cube tray.
Freeze and serve on hot days.
-or-

Blend meat broth with 1/2 stick of celery until mushy.
Pour into an ice cube tray.
Freeze and serve on hot days.
Add these tempting ice cubes to your dog's water dishes. Some dogs will eat ice cubes even when they don't want to drink!

Turkey Treats
1 pound ground Turkey
1/2 to 3/4 cup bread crumbs
2 Tbl. parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder, more or less or none if so desired.
Method

Mix like a meatloaf and shape into cigar sized shapes.
Bake on a cookie sheet (I spray with a non stick spray) at 350 degrees for 15- 20 minutes.
Slice when cooled.
They freeze well after they are cooled and sliced.
