The cubicle ideas are great. I also love the idea of having some big, embarrassing birthday gram come to him at his cubicle. A male stripper would be funny too, but you probably wouldn't be able to get away with that at a workplace.
At my old job, when my boss had a birthday we wrapped everything in her cubicle in b-day wrapping paper. Her computer, pens, telephone...even her chair. It looked pretty.
She had to unwrap everything before she could sit down and do any work.
