I also have the purple dyson dc14 (animal) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I tried a few cheaper vacuums before buying the dyson. I didn't want to pay so much for a vacuum but I ended up returning them and I broke down and bought the dyson. The suction with the attachments is great and it picks up everything. The best part about it--for me especially since I have a bad back--is that it's so LIGHT compared to the other vacuums out there. It's worth every penny
