Kona has some really strange phobias:
1. She hates her reflection. It startles her and then she'll sit and bark at herself.
2. She won't walk across small bridges in the park. She'll start but once she sees that there's water underneath her, she freezes.
3. She absolutely hates any sort of grates in sidewalks or streets. She has to get as far away from them as possible in order to get around it. There's one sidewalk that we walk down a lot. It has a small brick wall on one side of it, and when the grates get close, she won't move unless she's all the way against the wall.
4. She doesn't like changes in flooring (unless she's in our home). For example, if we're walking in a different building or house, she refuses to cross from carpet to tile or vice versa while she's on a leash. Even if it's all hard flooring, if it's a different texture or color she freezes. She plants herself with her legs sticking out in front and won't move unless I drag her. She'll only walk across different floors if she does it slowly on her own. Then she's perfectly fine.
We always joke that she needs a doggy psychologist for all of her strange fears! Besides these weird quirks, she's the happiest puppy on earth!
