Hopefully not, sometimes they can give them a little sedation and look with a scope into the esophogus and into the stomach and reach it and pull it out...the chances of his being cut are alot less if they can get to it this way and this early in the situation...if it obstructs further into the GI tract, they have no choice but to make an incision to retreive it.
