I brought my new baby Mango home on Monday, a little girl 10 weeks old.
From reading these forums the last week and asking questions about crate traning with a new little one, I am blown away and very suprised at Mango's behavior.
I expected her to cry most of the first night home and to have to take her potty about every 3 hours through the night.
When we took her home that first afternoon,I hada Petsmart pen set up with the crate inside, door open. I placed her in the pen and within 5 minutes she had climbed by herself into the crate and fallen asleep.
The first night... no crying at all. At about 4AM she whimpered, I took her out to pee, she then went straight back to the crate and to sleep until 6.45.
Last night she slept straight through the night in the crate until 6.45 this morning, when I took her out for her first wee-poop.
Now you probably wonder why I'm not happy. Well, during the day, she only pees about every 4 HOURS!!! She eats very well, is full of unbelievably mishchievious energy. When she wakes from her naps, I take her out immediately, but she will NOT pee.She hops around the yard, chases my feet, chases leaves and anything else that moves, but she does not pee.(I wait at least 10-15 mins before giving up and going back inside.) She will sometimes only pee a full hour after a very long nap, even though she might have eaten just before.
Anyone with any ideas? Should I be concerned? Is this in any way normal for such a tiny dog; she only ways 1lb 2ozs.
