Welcome to YorkieTalk and congratulations, kp! You are in for a real treat ... these are the sweetest babies and also very intelligent. We studied all the books and read everything we could find before we found our Toto. One rule we have is NO yelling and anyone that would ever spank our baby would surely die!
None of that is necessary .... they will quickly learn a bzillion one or two word commands ... the first word we taught Toto was "no". When she would nip us with those little needle teeth, we would tell her no and hand her something of her own to chew on [make sure you have a variety of chew toys]. We began training her to the wee wee pad on the way home the very day we bought her! Yep! Stopped the car along the side of the road ... put the pad down and sat her right on it immediately after she peed in my lap in the car!
