Our Toto was about Nessa's age when we brought her home and one of the first things I did was begin brushing her. I held her almost all the time anyway, so I took advantage of all that lap time by rubbing her all over, expecially her little feet. I kept a brush handy at all times and when she was very relaxed, I would take the brush and gently brush her, whether the brush was actually "brushing" or not. It got her accustomed to the brush and she began to expect it. It's very difficult, especially with a cottony coat like Toto's, to get out every single mat but certainly worth the effort. She is 3 1/2 yrs. now and sits very still while I groom her .... even lays on her little back and holds her little legs very still while I brush, get mats out, clip nails, etc. I realize that all these little one's are different and Nessa may never let you brush her, but just wanted to tell you how I handled the "battle of the brush"!!!
