I had one that had the coil around the cord. It was a big plastic thing but it burned out or something. Also it doesn't have a heat control and was too hot at times. Babies like to sleep clumped up on each other and it got so hot the mama's wouldn't sleep in the bed with the babies. I had it under the bed. The babies wouldn't sleep close to each other and when I picked them up they felt hot to my hand. If I use another heating pad it will be one that has a heat control. I was afraid their blood would boil. No kidding.
Try a ziplock bag of dry rice warmed up in the microwave and wrapped with a towel so as not to burn the babies. I haven't tried this one yet but my dil tried it for cramps and says it works. I will be trying it. Sylvia
