I definitely plan on having Chewie microchipped. I think microchips are well worth the investment, which is quite nominal. Our previous dog was a springer spaniel escape artist. No matter what we did, he managed to escape from our yard--he was a house dog that loved to go outside to play. Any way, having the microchip was a life saver. He was returned to us every time because someone called the number on the tag or he was taken to the shelter or a vet's office and they found us through the microchip information. I think with the chips, the benefits far outweigh the side effects. My father, a veterinarian himself, agrees.
