What is the amount that your friend bought and sold the dog for?

I think ANY time you rescue a dog, or take one in in a "rehome" situation, you're just automatically taking responsibility for its needs.

However, if you give a lot of money (say, over $500) for an animal, I think it's fair to expect that you won't have to turn straight around and pay alot of vet bills when you've been told they were checked out and healthy.

I agree that the dog is probably just going through a transitional stage.
