I have a toy poodle. The best shampoo I have used for her is Petsilk Midnight black (she is a black poodle) but I also use the moisturizing one that I use for my yorkie.

Don't comb the hair dry as it will break and damage. I usually do her teeth first and then bathe her with shampoo, rinse and wash again, rinse one more time and put on conditioner (plenty). I leave it on for atleast 5 minutes and comb her with a regular comb while the conditioner sits on her coat. Be very careful NOT to get water in the ear canal as poodles are prone and notorious to get otitis (ear infections). After the hair is matt-free, I rinse very well (make sure there is no residue left) and then towel dry.

Meanwhile, I dab a little bit of cowboy magic all over her hair, clean her ears with Q-tips, and pluck the hair inside the ear (it must be done to prevent infections). I then comb her again with the cowboy magic detangler on and coat still wet while blow drying her.

Lastly, I cut her nails, put 2 bows on her hair and viola!

P.S. I keep her hair short with pom poms because she is black and gets hot easily during the summer and winter (I keep it nice and extra warm inside).

I have had her with a long coat but she is happier with it short.

Here is she is
